Rebecca Barksdale Joins MCCC Board

Rebecca’s heart for serving others began as a child when she watched her late grandfather,   Dr. Zack Bobo from Arlington, in action. She said that he was the Marcus Welby of his day, and he dedicated himself to giving back to others.

Rebecca gave loving service at home as her grandmother (Dr. Bobo’s wife), struggled with Alzheimer’s for 16 years. It taught Rebecca the meaning of unselfishly serving others.

Following graduation from Baylor with a BBA in Entrepreneurship, Management and Marketing, she worked four years, including an internship with the Texas Rangers, before returning to earn her Master’s Degree in Communications.

A trip with Rotary International to India helped her gain a worthwhile perspective as she realized that those with much should reach out to serve those with little.

For the past 22 years, she has served numerous community organizations in Tarrant County. From her position as Director of Marketing & Community Relations for Allen Samuels Auto Group to her position as Community Outreach  for Tarrant County Precinct 3, she has honored her grandfather’s legacy of giving back.

One of her passions is Metroport Meals On Wheels, where she is past chairman of the board and has chaired their golf tournament.
